The water level switch operates such that the machine will not start to operate until the water level switch has told the timer that the correct amount of water is in the machine.

So I would start by replacing the water level switch and see if that fixes things.

I have a whirlpool washer that won't fill with water, but it agitates and spins. Any ideas on diagnosis? Water level switch? Timer? Inlet Valves?
