If the heating element is the problem then yes you will need to replace it.
It's just something you will have to look at first to see. You should be able to see a big burnt mark were it sparked. Could be a wire that can be repaired or it maybe the heating element that will need to be replaced.

Hi,
I would remove the dryer drum and inspect the heating element.
On your model dryer the heating element is located behind the drum.
Also take a close look at the two wire spades the plug into the heating element.
Should be easy to spot were it sparked once you have it apart.

My front loading electric dryer stopped heating today.
At first it displayed AD and would stop after 5 minutes of drying.
We tried again and it would run but not heat at all. I checked the exhaust hose and it is clear.
I unplugged it for a few hours then tried again. Got the same result the first 2 times then it started sparking.
I saw a blue arc and heard a buzz like a bug zapper from behind the drum each time the drum turned. :eek:
I stopped it and came looking for help.
What is most likely the problem. I know very little about dryers but I am somewhat "handy". Where do I start.
