I was following this thread and did not take the timer apart but pulled the belt and now the motor will spin. What does that mean? All other symptons were the same.

I'm glad you were able to fix it.

update - i took the timer apart and cleaned the contacts up and looking good and put it EXACTLY back together and the same. here is what i have figured out so far. on both spin and agitate the wires carrying 120v are purple ,grey orange and red. not hot are black w/white stripe and black w/red stripe. does anyone know if this is correct?

If there is the new motor then check the wire connection to the motor and wires from the timer to the motor.

If there is nothing wrong then the timer has to be replaced.

- The part number for the timer is AP2106876

gene thanks for the reply. i just ordered the motor and capacitor just this week from this site with no results. i tried it with the belt off and the same. is there anything else i can test on the motor or elsewhere. thanks jeff

When did you replace the motor? Sounds like the motor start winding is not good.

Remove the belt and check if the motor will start by itself.
