If it's a kenmore 80s model then you probably have a clutch problem if it spins with nothing in it but not when some weight is applied.

This link will bring you to the clutch.
WHIRLPOOL Clutch assembly, part number: 285785

This is an educated guess.. But since the washer does spin with no clothes in it, this definitely points to the clutch.

If the washer does not spin at all with no load. And doesn't wash.
Then the motor coupling is most likely the problem.
It can be found here.
WHIRLPOOL Motor coupling (for Direct Drive Washers), part number: 285753A

If you have any questions let us know.

I have a Kenmore 80 series model # 110.29852991 that will not spin.
Wife tried washing a load and motor sounded like it was going to stop
spinning, kept slowing down. Removed clothes and tried cycle empty.
Washer would not spin at all, this is on the permanent press cycle.
Tried running an empty load on ultra clean cycle and it seems to work
fine. Is it the motor going bad, electric control know, etc, etc???? Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Mike
