If the leak was in the 5/16 tubing from the compressor and the fridg was running a long time, the compressor has sucked in non-compressables, the compressor is probably bad. If the tech. checked the pressures, he probably measured a vacumm in the low side.

If the compressor has not been damaged why it has to be replaced? Beside the tube disk you have to replace the filter-drier and the system must be very good vacuumed (20 to 30 minutes) prior to charging Freon. - The tube disk Part number: AP4373345

Had a service technician come out and look at our Kenmore (Amana) fridge. Neither the fridge or freezer were cooling. He said that the tube disk (which sits in the condensation pan) was corroded and the freon had leaked out. He said that once air gets in the system, the compressor must be replaced. Is this a fact or just their standard recommendation? What would happen if I just replaced the bad line and recharged the system?
Thanks
