I am going to guess that you use a lot of fabric softener. It gets gunky and makes it difficult to get the two pieces of the agitator apart.

You need to get a tall bucket and soak it in very hot water, maybe two or three changes and then it should pull apart.

Changing the agitator kit on washer. I ordered the new parts. Took the agitator out but cannot seperate the two pieces. Mine seems to have a different piece inside that is holding the two pieces together. Am I missing something?
