I had the same problem on my GE dishwasher. I ordered the Piston & Nut Assy. That seemed to solve the problem. When you take the old one out look at the little cone shaped part. It will probably be warped or deformed in some way. Mine even had a little notch in the seat that the cone fits into. DON'T Mess with the gasket you will see when you unscrew the piston & Nut Assy. I did and had to pull the DW out and put in a new one. My DW is a GE Triton. The P & N assy Is located at the back and at the bottom of the tub. There was a long plastic part with a screen in it held on by four screws. The P & N is under that. Good Luck!

Thanks for the speedy reply. What am I looking for on the Piston & Nut assy? Is there some defect to observe, or does one just replace it and hope for the best?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for GE GSD5930D00WW | AppliancePartsPros.comRemove the kick plate and make sure the wash/drain solenoid is being pulled all the way down. Remove the sump cover and check that it does not have debris in it. Take special note of the way the inner filter goes in. put it in wrong and the chopper will eat it. Last and this is probably the problem, check the piston and nut assembly (Item 564 in the "Body parts" section.. It is under the screen filter at the back/bottom in the tub. It unscrews.

My 9-year-old DW has recently started to finish its cycle with water left in the basin. At first it was occasional and I could cure it by resetting the DW, but it is a consistent problem and resetting no longer works. I assume this is happening after both the wash and rinse cycles, because the water is soapy and dirty.
I've followed the instructions on a number of other posts: The water level is below the level of the float assembly, which appears to be working well. I've witnessed water draining freely through the air gap (and into a bucket), so no hose problems. The solenoid appears to move freely/completely, too.
What's next on the list?
