I just replaced mine today. Lifted it out and removed the screws from around the edge and also the two screws in the down draft chamber.
Pretty quick job. No gaskets, no special tools

Hi there,
I have a Jenn Air downdraft cooktop, Model JED8430ADB that needs a new glass-ceramic surface. I have available to me a very cheap cooktop surface to Model JED8430BDB. They look identical as far as I can tell, but Jenn Air (and your own parts diagrams for the two models) lists two different part numbers for the replacements. Thinking this might only represent cosmetic differences, I am still tempted to try. But before I do, does anyone know if the replacement surface for Model JED8430BDB will fit and work with Model JED8430ADB? Thanks very much for the help.
