Sorry, not the relay, but rather the run capacitor checked out fine!

After spending the last several hours reading through the tons of info here, I've been led to this final question. I've "troubleshot" virtually everything found in reply to other threads without solving the issue. Mine may be quite simple. On this refrigerator, should the compressor ALWAYS make a humming sound when power is applied? It is quite warm to the touch (some could say hot) and it has a "clicking sound" on a regular interval, but never a humming sound. I checked the relay prior in the harness with the correct finding per my multimeter, so this must not be the problem. I think I know the answer, but fridge coffins are expensive!
