Dusty,

You are right. Sounds like the problem is the ice maker itself unless the yellow wire from the ice maker to the water valve solenoid is broken. Unplug the ice maker and check this wire from the plug to the solenoid for continuity.

I'm sorry about the misdiagnoses. I've spoken with Adam from the APP team and if you go into chat and ask for Adam he will happy to get an ice maker shipped out to you. The part number for the ice maker is AP3160597

I changed the valve this evening and two hours later I still have no water to the ice maker. I do have water at the dispenser still. When I turn the gear on the front of the ice maker, it does go through its cycle. But then no water comes in to the ice maker.
Here is what I am wondering, If I switch the two leads on top of the valve and get water to the ice maker by pushing the dispenser switch, wouldn't that tell us that the icemaker side of the valve opens but that the signal through the ice maker lead is not getting there through the wire??? It just seems that if you power it with the dispenser lead and get it to open, but can't get water through with the ice maker lead, wouldn't you think that this could be an electrical problem and not so much a valve problem,
Let me know what you think and what else I should do or if I am way off in my diagnosis. I don't want to mess around and replace to much more because pretty soon I could just buy a new icemaker or pay for a repairman. But I would rather do it myself with your help because then I know that it will be right.
thank you
Dusty

Dusty,

You were absolutely right. In that case the solution is to replace the water valve.

- The part number for the water valve is AP2115312

the feeder tube is not frozen but what I find is that there are 2 valves on back of the fridge one is on the left side and one is on the right side. the right one is where the water source hooks up on and the one on the left sends water to either the ice maker or the water dispenser I switched the 2 leads on the top of the valve that is on the left aand I could get water in the ice maker when I pushed the dispenser button. the fridge model number is frs26zrgw5. does this mean that valve is bad or what would be making it do that. I thought I read that if you switched the leads and got water to the icemaker by pushing the dispenser button then that meant the valve is bad is this correct??

Dusty,

Check the water feeding tube into the ice maker. It could be frozen.

the icemaker in our freezer was working just fine but when it filled the bucket with ice and shut off than it wouldn't let any water in could it have froze?? It is funny how it worked and then after it shut off then it wouldn't work anymore. I don't have an owners manual but I do know tht it is a frigidaire refrigerator and it is the original ice maker also the water through the door works just fine. and I did notice that the icemaker goes through the motions but there is no water please help as my wife told me I would have marital troubles if the ice maker didn't work!!!

Thankyou
Dusty
