thanks for the input. I have been quoted about $250 to replace the motor. I think I can just buy a new dryer for $400. thanks again

If it will not start right away after it stops, you have a bad motor.

Very possible the problem is a bad motor.

the belt is still on the drum. How ever when running the dryer it runs for a while and then quits. I suspect the belt may be slipping. Is it advisable to try to call a repair service?

After removing the lint screen cover I found it stuffed full of lint. Cleaned it out and could see the belt is still on the drum so I will test it tonight to see if that was the problem.

Remove the toe panel and check if the belt is broken. Post the result.

While using the dryer for the past few days I started smelling a burning smell possibly rubber. The dryer started making a sweaking noice to go with the smell. Finally the dryer quite working. I am thinking that I broke a belt. Is this a difficult fix?
