Yes. This is a microwave/vent hood combination. Check to see if the grease filter is clogged or restricted. This is very common.

I bought a house that had the microwave installed above the range. It has a vent button but when I activate the vent it does run but does not draw the steam from the pots on the stove. I removed the filters on the bottom of the device but I cannot see any fans. All I see is a gray metal bottom that does not appear to be the type of microwave you place over a stove. My question is ; is model MHE14XMB-3, serial no. S 4128957, maufactured 10/05- is this a microwave built to be installed over a range to draw the steam up the roof vent?
