Clanking/thumping is usually one of the rear support rollers.
Often it is a flat spot on the roller that is not very obvious.
Also check the support shafts.

Not a bad idea to also look at where the rollers run on the drum, sometimes crud, lint etc. can stick there and cause a thumping.
Check that the seam on the drum is OK.

Another area that can cause thumping are the front and rear drum seals.

dryer is making loud clanking noise.the drum roller appears to be the problem.I removed it and started dryer and the noise was eliminated,but it didnt seem that anything was wrong with the roller wheel.Has anyone had the same problem?
