Put the timer on a "No Heat", or "Air Fluff" cycle. Start the dryer and see if you hear the motor. If you heaar the motor, you have a broken belt. If there's no motor noise, you'll need to replace the motor.

Hi I am new to this so hope I can ask a question here.I have a whirpool dryer which i know is old (it was my dad's n he passed away and I got it.) I have the part number for the belt it is #AP2946843.but don't know what all I have to do to install it?Any help I would appreciate it.Thanks

In order to help you better we need the complete model number of your dryer. You can find it on the door frame, on top of the console or on the right side of the cabinet on the very bottom.
Unfortunately the model number you supplied is incorrect.
