Take a look at this page GE Washer Disassembly Guide

You will need a spanner wrench to remove the big nut.

I found a suggestion to just pull up hard on the agitator on a GE washer posting and it worked. Now I have to figure out how to get the tub nut (1 11/16") loose. I can't get much leverage with a wrench. It looks like I may need an impact wrench and a very deep socket. Does anyone have any other ideas?
