Something unusual is going on with your microwave. I'm afraid it is impossible to diagnose it remotely.

The repair can be very costly to you and I would recommend to shop around for a new microwave. I believe you can find one for about $200.

Yes the door was closed while testing and i test again and now meter was showing 136 volts for 10 sec and then zero volts. and some wire burning smell too.

Did you close the door while performing this test?

If you did and the microwave was on then the problem most likely is a bad control board. The only thing confusing me is a humming noise which is not connected to the control board.

let me try again with correct wires and will let you know

You did it wrong. The transformer primary winding is connected to the wires coming from the control board or door switches. You went to the secondary (high voltage) or filament windings and it is VERY DANGEROUS.

I'm afraid you can electrocute yourself. It is better if you'll hire a pro to do it for you.

Hi Gene,

I removed the MW and checked the voltage it says only 4. can you please see the pic and let me if i am doing correct?

Remove the microwave from the cabinet. Remove the microwave outer case.
Remove the wires from the high voltage transformer primary winding and check for 120 VAC between these wires while the control calls for heat.

Post the results.

yes - the sound is little hard than normal like humming noise
Gene Posted: Friday, December 10, 2010 3:25:18 PM(UTC)

Zahoor,

Does it make any noise when it's on or it's silent?

If it does, is this noise sounds like normal?
