Before I purchase a replacement Water inlet valve kit for my Whirlpool GD5YHAXNL00 side/side fridge, are there checks I can to do to confirm that the valve is actually bad & it is not another component causing the problem?

The fridge dispenses cold water just fine.
The red led inside the freezer flashes twice approx every few seconds (from reading I think this is the normal condition?)
I physically checked the valve & there is no apparent outward problem or leaks. pulling the tan (ice side) plug & checking the coil with a multimeter shows continuity, but of course this does not mean the part is not broken.
I also used a hair dryer to blow warm air on the filler tube in the freezer for a few minutes to try & thaw a possible line freeze.

Any help is appreciated!
Thank you.
