Since the machine seems to be ok mechanically, I think you do need a new timer. If you order from this site and it does not fix things, you can return it. See the returns policy for conditions and details.

I have a top loading amana washer that will not spin out after the final rinse when I use the regular cycle, if I use the perm press cycle it works fine, do i need a timer?
