It shows a loose connection inside the plug which caused some resistance and some current drawn there, overheating the plug. The igniter has to be replaced or you can eliminate both plugs and hard wire the igniter using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts. - The oven igniter Part number: AP3202322

Igniter wires are heat-rated o withstand the high heat of the oven. Special ceramic wire nuts also come supplied with most replacement parts. The wires and connectors that are not meant to be inside the oven chamber need to be placed appropriately on the outside of the insulation, to protect them.

In recently inspecting my ignitor I found that the plug was blackened and starting to melt. Is this a normal course of wear for this particular part or should I be looking at this as more than normal wear. On another note the appliance repair person who replaced it last time improperly stuffed the cord back into the hole so the insulation was worn to the wire... could this have melted the plug? On another note the receiving part of the plug (the plug end not attached to the ignitor) was discolored but not melted... I'm assuming it is still usable?
