HELP! I live in a 'Queenslander' house on acreage near Brisbane. I have a problem with melamys (kind of like a native fruit & seed eating rat) eating through my dishwasher hoses to get to the water. I've replaced the hoses several times but my 'visitors' gnaw holes in them straight away. It appears that once they've located a water source they just keep coming back to it.
It's impossible to get rid of the melamys (believe me I've tried everything). They don't even touch rat bait. I've even tried leaving them water so they'll leave my hoses alone!!
So what I'm looking for is a new dishwasher that has vermin proof hoses and a vermin proof back. The appliance stores don't seem to be able to help me. Any suggestions?
