Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDET336AYW Dryer - Ele | AppliancePartsPros.com

Your unit does not use a rear bearing.
The rear of the drum is supported by 2 rollers (Item 17 in Section 5).
They are a possible cause.

Spin the motor to see if it is the cause.

Since you also get scraping it could be the front glides are shot (Item 3 in Section 5)

Also since oiling the idler worked for a couple days, carefully inspect it for wear etc.

I have a dryer that has begun to squeak. It also sounds like something may also be scraping. I took it apart and oiled the idler pulley. That seemed to help for a few days, but it has started again. Anything I might be missing? I read in other parts of the forum that the rear bearing sometimes goes bad. I wondered it that might be the problem. If so, I couldn't find the part in the schematic I looked up. I would appreciate any help that anyone could give me. Thanks in advance.
