The thing with the lid you tried was a good idea, but unfortunately it is for GE's with a mode shifter and an inverter on the motor which you do not have.

Try pulling off the agitator and replacing this part.

Washer does everything except agitate. When it fills and is ready to agitate, I can hear the motor hum. The belt is on correctly and not broken. I unplugged it for a minute, plugged it back in & opened & closed lid 6 times in 12 seconds (just because I saw it somewhere on here) Can you give any further trouble-shooting advice?
