Could be a bad centrifugal switch. The start button bypasses the centrifugal switch to start the motor, and the centrifugal switch takes over once drum is turning. Take a look at your schematic to get idea of where it is (probably in the motor itself). Google "centrifugal switch repair" on that model to see if you get a clue for where to find it. It might be fixable.

I have Kenmore Elite electrical dryer. When I press start button, dryer won't latch to continue to run. It stops when I let go start button. I Thanks & hope you can help.
