No the base is fine it sits on the trans spline, the the agitator sits on that everything is normal, the problem is inside the agitator itself, let me explain
if you where to hold the agitator in your hand you would notice it has to
plastic sections if you were to hold the bottom portion steady (this is the
part that would normally sit on the base groves) and then try and spin the
top portion (the ear part) it should only spin one way and lock up the other
way.
the agitator for this particular model must be a very popular replacement part
because you have two plastic inner clips handling the entire weight of the wet loads.
The few questions I have
when you tighten a agitator screw like this do you use some kind of compound on the treads to help it not loosen up?. because you cannot really tighten if so what is the name of it.
that screw or you will force the head of the screw right though the agitator side mounting hole. the only thing that stops it is that tin like washer.
I know on some models the agitator has a diffent setup and is not made this
cheap, you would normally just replace the ears, but in this case its two built
in parts together that are not repairable,
the tranny and base have nothing to do with this whats so ever, they work fine,
