Very possible the transmission is gone bad. If your washer is less than 10 years old then the transmission should be covered under the limited (parts only) manufacturer warranty.

Yes it does drain and the belt looks good. Is this something that I should call the service man for is it a do it yourself job. I did notice that the drive motor has a range of movement. It pivots on the base is this normal?

Does it drain properly?

Check if the belt is not worn out.

If there is nothing wrong then the transmission is probably gone bad.

Have a Maytag washer that will not spin. The agitator moves during the spin cycle but the drum will not spin. Any ideas?
