The correct reading on the cold thermostat should be close to 0 ohms. 25 ohms is definitely wrong. The defrost thermostat is the culprit. No doubt about it.

Thanks for the reply. That is my guess as well.
The resistance of the old thermostat cold is something like 25 ohms and nothing warm.
Are these numbers about right. The cold number varies every time I check it.

Hi Tomok, Definitely the defrost thermostat will cause a faulty defrost if its resistance is incorrect. The thermistors have nothing to do with the defrost. In the very first post you mentioned that you "tried the diagnostics", so I'm assuming you do have the tech sheet for the refrigerator. The last 6s step in the Service diagnostic mode will switch the line voltage to the defrost components. - The defrost thermostat Part number: AP4299920

Hello Gene,
Back again after 2 years with same sympton as before.
The inside of the freezer was chocked with ice. Diffuser working fine.
Melted ice and now air getting into fridge compartment so I think perhape the defrost is the problem.
I have checked the resistance of the thermostat and get iffy results.
Can you confirm if this could be the problem. Both thermisters were replaced 2 years ago. What else. Is there a forced defrost code or process so I don't have to use a hairdryer.again

I know how important it is to give feedbact to finish thread and help others with similar problems......so here it is.
The problem seems to have solved/repaired itself. The fridge is back to normal now for 5 days. No problem in freezer or fridge.
I think you are right that the baffel motor was stuck and perhaps bad. I have had this happen many times on old fridges where the freezer fan stops and goes causing the very same problem. Problem is that the thermister could give the same symptoms....I think.but this would not correct itself.
I will keep an eye on it and let you know as time goes on. Thanks for the help

Very likely the problem is a bad air diffuser (baffle). Verify 120 VAC between the red and white wires to the diffuser motor. If the reading is correct, replace the air diffuser. - The air diffuser Part number: AP3084126

This fridge has been a challange for the past year.
First the freezer temp was uncontrollable and would shut off after a couple weeks.
Problem was solved with new thermister in freezer ..and..I replaced the control board>>>NOT NEEDED I think.
Next was the icemaker sensor....replaced.
Next was the comperssor relay....replaced.
Now freezer is fine but fridge will not go below 55f.
Tried the diagnostics and everything seems ok...so sounds like the fridge thermister....perhaps.
I can check resistance but would like another opinion
Next....think I'll sell this lemon!!
