I would check the wiring harness around the water inlet valve assembly. If all seems ok, then replace the valve assembly.

Hello, I have a top load whirlpool washer model WTW5300VW2. The washer was working perfectly fine until one day I went to use it and right when the washer was about to fill, smoke started coming out instead of water. The smoke was coming out of the section where the water usually fills from. Also, when this occurred, there was noise coming from one of the water hoses connected to the back of the washer. I unplugged the power to the washer after this. I used the washer again today and everything works as expected, however, you have to manually fill the water into the tub to get the water to work. I did some research online and it seems that the water fill valve may be having an issue. Please correct me if I am wrong or if anyone has an answer to this issue. Would the water fill valve be the correct part to replace?

Thank you,

Joseph
