Since the machine will operate correctly this suggests the timer is at fault. Try replacing it and see if that does not fix the problem. If you buy the part from this site and it does not solve things you can return it.

Problem started a couple days ago. For the most part, the washer fills and agitates correctly, but once it hits the rinse cycle, the washer will sit there and fill and fill like it never reaches "full" but never move into the final spin cycle. We have tried different load sizes and different wash settings to no avail. Once we stop it and shift it into the spin cycle, it drains/spins fine. It just refuses to rinse fully.
