Hi.

It sounds like the icemaker should be replaced

We have a GE side by side freezer/refrigerator TFX25JRBAWW that has worked like a pro and still does except, a few days ago it stopped making ice. I popped the cover off the front of the ice maker and I can take a screwdriver and turn the motor cog just a tad and the thing will got through a cycle, heat the mold and dump 7 cubes of ice. It refills with water but won't dump again till you nudge the motor. It set for several hours before I nudged it again.
My question is, does this unit have a timer on the fridge itself that tells the ice maker to cycle or is it all done complete in the unit itself.
I do have a broke switch handle on the control board in the door. Someone visiting had switched it to crushed and that is when my ice maker quit cycling. It has been broke off for a while but we never switched it and it wasn't a problem in the household.
