Is the problem most likely the control switch or the burner element?
Cannot say as it could be either part.
Only way to tell is to remove power from the unit and check the element with a meter. If it checks out OK then replace the infinite switch.
Sometimes you can see the break in the element.

The Right front burner does not heat. The element ON light illuminates when the swithc is turned on, but the element remains off (in the OFF posit, the element ON light turns off). This is in a rental home and all the tenants told me is that it stopped working from one day to the next. Is the problem most likely the control switch or the burner element? Thank you for your assistance.
