I have a GE JHP63G*H1 HiLo oven (the kind with the lower drawer, Lower oven, cooktop and upper oven (with rotis). We like it, although it is old it fits in our kitchen.

Anyhow, last Wed my kids left the burner on with a circulon pot, and melted the bottom out of it while trying to steam something (without water). Melted the burner. I took the element out, and have ordered a new one (it is the kind that is the 4/6/8.

The element was like $100 to order, but here is the problem. The surface indicator light (that shows if something is on) is still lit even when the entire burner unit is removed (I have taken the ring off, and labeled the wires etc.

The other burners work fine, as does the oven, but I turn it off now when I am not using it with the circuit breaker. When I install the new burner, will that light go off, or might they have done some other damage inside the range? This light did not stay on before.

Please let me know, I live in Middletown NJ, and we like the old thing.

Stephen
