I didn't get a response from the forum but went ahead with the installation when the ceramic replacement surface came today. I shut down the circuit breaker and removed two clamping brackets (probably should have four; the builder cut some corners). There are 12 screws that attach it to the burner compartment. With those out it was an easy swap. My only recommendation is that it works better with an extra pair of hands to lift out the unit. Very easy!

I just ordered a replacement ceramic surface for my cooktop since mine cracked. Is this something that I can replace myself?
