Just happened to check in and saw this post. Your model number doesn't look too far off from mine in the rebuild thread above. Here's a photo from my page showing how it went with mine. Hopefully this looks close to what you are working with. As you can see, it comes down from the outer edge, around the big pulley and "hooks around" the metal pulley. Hope this helps!

I am having trouble with the correct belt routing on a Maytag dryer. The way it was when I started on the dryer doesn't seem right since the belt comes off the two pulleys very close to where it comes on the pulleys and doesn't put much tension on the idler pulley spring. Does anyone have a routing diagram for this model of dryer?
