This LG filter part #ADQ32598202 seems to have a cavity behind the mesh filter, and its full of stuff. But I can't seem to be able to take it apart to get all the gunk out. This filter cost ~$45, and I just can't seem to feel good buying a new one when, if I could take it apart, would be simple to clean.

Any ideas?

If the end result is just buy a new one, this is the last LG appliance I'll buy.

Removing and replacing the sump assembly was much easier on my son's Frigidaire dishwasher.
