I have two recent problems with this appliance:
1, The broil works in the oven but the bake will not.
2, The range left back coil no matter what you set will turn red hot. If I turn it between off and low it wont turn to high. If I interchange th e coil cartridges it will do the same thing so it must be a knob /panel issue??
Anybody have any ideas?

Unplug the unit and remove the bake element. Check it with ameter should be around 20 ohms. Be careful when removing it as you do not want to pull the wires off that attach to the element. Also is a good idea to have a clip (clothes pin works) to attach to the wires so they do not disappear into the back of the unit when you disconnect the element.

Sounds like you need a new switch, Item 2 in Section 1.

Thank you for your help, bought a new switch and it seems to be working great. It is nice to have a low and medium again. :-)
I ordered a new bake element at the same time I ordered the switch but that did not fix the oven. So does that narrow down the problem a bit? Is there something else that is most likely the problem. I noticed several others had this type of problem with Amana ovens also. Is this a common problem with Amana? (ARDS802SS)

Thanks again for the help with the switch.
