Default Oven won't bake
Model Number: che9800bcb   Brand: Maytag   Age: More than 10 years

The top element in the oven only works for broiling. When I bake the bottom element heats up, but the top does not. The food remains raw on top and burned on the bottom. The keypad works fine and tells you when the oven is preheated so it does not detect a problem. Can this be repaired with a part replacement?

Your oven works as designed. The upper (Broil) heating element should work only when the Broil mode is chosen.

Put an oven thermometer in the middle of the oven and measure the temperature while the oven control calls for Bake and set for 350°F. Post the result.

Gene.

Gene,

The thermometer read 300 when the oven stated the preheat was complete at 350.

Try to adjust the oven temperature as described on the page 16 in the "Owners manual".

If it would not help then the control board has to be replaced.

- The part number for the control board (aka clock) is AP2673398

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag range Model CHE9800BCB
