I bought a new stove heating element, left front, dual burner, part # 316049706, but the terminals on new part have a solid connections between 2 of them that was not on the origianl part. I cannot connect the wires the same was as before. Can you tell me how to properly connect the wires? I have attached a sketch.

If you will look at both the old and new heating elements from their top, you'll see what is the difference. Both the jumper on the old part and the solid connector on the new part providing power to the middle of the coils. The orange wire should be connected to the small (center) coil and the purple wire should be connected to the large (outer) coil.

Gene.
