Default Oven will not maintain temp.
Model Number: rs696pxy   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: More than 10 years

This drop in range is 15 years old and in excellent conition except for this problem. This is the first problem ever with it. The oven heats up initially no problems but sometimes it will not cycle back on to maintain the temp. If you turn it off and back on it will heat right back up or if you switch to broil and back to bake it will heat back up. Its doing this about 75% of the time now. What could be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Oven not heating

I cannot figure out how to post a question. My Amana oven blew it's oven bake element and burnt for awhile before we turned the breaker off. I ordered a replacement element and we installed it. After an hour the temp only reaches 235 degrees. I wiped the oven out but the oven temp. probe feels unsmooth. Could it be ruined so the temp is off? This ia an amana ARR6400WW range. The oven has a computerized touch panel and it appears okay. Does not show any error messages. The part I ordered was not the actual $80 amana one but a $40 one that came with a maytag sticker on the bag. It was the same wattage. You can not return the elec. parts so before I call a repairman or replace the 10 year old stove or spend more on internet parts, I need another opinion. Thanks
