Do not rush with the part. Besides the heating element itself such problem can be caused by a broken/burned out wire or a bad relay board (#14 on the diagram). You have to diagnose the problem to avoid unnecessary spendings. Pull the range out of the wall. Remove the rear panel and inspect the wires to the Bake heating element. If there is nothing wrong, remove the wires from the heating element and check it for continuity. If there is nothing wrong, check for 240 VAC between those wires. Post the results. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for MAYTAG CHE9800BCE Range - S/c S/i Ele | AppliancePartsPros.comGene.

It seems like the wire is burned out on one side. What do I need to do to repair this?

Cut off the burned part of the wire and attach a new 1/4" wire terminal. If the heating element terminal is also burned, you have to replace the heating element. - The 1/4" high temperature terminals Part number: AP3440466
