Model Number: 790.99013100 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
The center element of the dual surface unit stays on at full heat after use. The only way to stop this is to turn off the power to the stove or unplug the leads to the center burner from the surface unit control board. Is this a problem with the control board or some other switch? Thank you!

If the surface element continues to heat when the controls are turned off (runaway condition) and the display boards are blank then the relay for that element is stuck closed. The correction is to replace the power (relay) board (#97 on the diagram). - The power board Part number: AP4374771 Gene.

Thank you, that is what I thought. It seems a waste though as it appears to be only one of the many switches on that board. Now I need to move on to the sticky oven light relay (switch works fine), which I think requires replacing #20 in the diagram.

- The control board Part number: AP3215566 Sears price for this part is about $30 less but their warranty is just 90 days while Appliance Parts Pros guaranteed all parts for a whole year. - The overlay Part number: AP2593015 Gene.
