I have a Frigidaire fef316asa electric range/oven and the elements in the oven will not heat. The bottom element has a black burn spot and appears to be burned out. When I turn on the broiler element it does not work either. When one goes, does the other not function or could it be something else. I was planning on replacing the element, but wanted to check first.

If the bake element has a bubble/rough spot it needs replacing.
That neither element works means that both may be burned out or you have a broken wire or the thermostat is shot.
If you are sure that the broil used to work it is unlikely that it would blow at the same time as the bake element.
You did not say if the stove top elements were OK.
If they heat up OK then at least you know that the unit is receiving 240 volts.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the stove top elements are working fine. I will try to replace the lower element and see if that heats up. If not, then I need to figure out plan B!
