Hello...

PLEASE HELP!!!!! I have a GE profile stove top. It sits on my counter and does not have an oven below. For some reason, the stove will not stop clicking. It functions properly, but when we are not using it will CLICK. There is no rhyme or reason, it just clicks randomly. One single click, it is driving me and my family crazy. Anybody know how to repair this. Thanks in advance.

Try unplugging it for 30 minutes and then plug back in, see what happens, also sometimes after cleaning the cooktop, water can cause a short, after it dries it will return to normal, if those don't fix the problem, you will be looking at repacing the spark module.

Thank you so much for your quick response. I've tried unplugging it for two days and we haven't cleaned the stove lately, neither of those solutions worked . I had a GE guy repair my dishwasher and he said it might be voltage leakage. He wouldn't write anything up or look for me unless he charged me. Do you know how that might be fixed. Thanks again.

If the line and nuetral wires are crossed, that could cause it, but if you have had it installed for quite some time, that is probably not it, so I am thinking the spark module

Thanks again for your response abadfish66. I bought the house in Dec. 07 and I noticed it soon after that. I wonder if the old owners just ignored it. Is correcting the neutral wires an easy repair?

Really no need to spend money on one, do this, Get an extension cord, and plug it into a different socket in your kitchen, see if the clicking stops. If it is miswired it will be miswired at the wall outlet you cooktop is plugged into. basically if you take the wall plate off the outlet, you should have the black wires on the right of the outlet, and white wires to the left of the outlet. Make sure your breaker to that outlet is shut off before checking

Hello Abadfish66 and all,



I tried your suggestion of plugging the stove in different sockets. I tried 4 of them. While I was praying it would work, the stove is still clicking. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you in advance.
