My oven shorted out in an electrical storm. Now the cook top still works but the digital control panel for the oven is flashing F1 E1. I think I've narrowed down the part that is needed. Looks like I have to replace the control panel/clock. My question is, how difficult is this to do? I'd rather do it myself than pay a high priced repairman when the part is about $170 alone. My husband and I are not overly handy, but if it's simple enough we could easily get it done. Any ideas, please let me know. THANKS A TON!

It is simple. About 10 screws.

The first thing I would do is turn off the circuit breakers for the range or unplug it for a few minutes and then restore the power.

If it would not help then the control board has to be replaced. In order to do it just remove the rear cover for the control panel.

I need you to post the color of the key panel to provide the right part number for the control board.

Thanks Gene. The color is white. Is it pretty self explanatory to replace? I'm assuming you just take the one panel out and put the other one in. Are there any wiring issues? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This part is not too difficult to replace yourself. Just remove the rear panel and switch the wires on at a time.

- The part number for the control board is AP3591291
