My oven and broiler fail to light when I try to start them. Also the clean mode won't work. The error code is F-31. My repairman said it needs a computer - which he says costs $180. I emailed you and you say I need a "clock/timer" for about $70. Is this the same part? The price difference seems outlandish.

The clock/timer is the computer Manufacture part #316557101 which retails for about $104. These guys cant get one cheaper for you at $70.60.

Although I do not see a F31 code listed for your range. Can you double check the error code?

Nat,
I couldn't find that code either until I looked under "Frigidaire" which apparently owns Tappan. That seemed to indicate the PTD (I think) sensor was bad which I took to mean the temperature sensor. repairman replaced sensor and still got code F31, although when the sensor was completely removed the code switched to F30. After that he said the computer was the problem.
When you say "these guys cant get one cheaper" do you mean they "can get one cheaper"?
Can I (a moderately intelligent layman) install this part fairly easily myself?
