Most likely the problem is a bad control panel which has to be replaced.

In order to provide the correct part number I need the color of the control panel.

Gene.

Hi Gene,
The oven is white.
I called RepaiClinic and she said that I needed part # 4448871.
I didn't order anything just yet...I need to know how to get it apart first.
Thanks

The part number you got from Repair ************ is for the control board. I do not think this is a failure suspect in your case. Most likely the problem is a bad membrane switch which is coming as the control panel assembly.

In order to replace it:

Open the lower oven door and remove the screw holding the trim on each side of the oven. Grab the trim from the bottom, pull it toward yourself and slide it down to release the trim from the control panel tab.

Remove the screw on each side of the bottom of the control panel.

Pull the bottom of the control panel toward yourself and push it up to release from the tabs.

Unplug the ribbon from the control board. Remove all screws holding the control board and reinstall the control board on the new control panel.

Assemble it in the reverse order.

- The part number for the white control panel is AP2929485

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid oven Model KEBS207DWH1

Thanks Gene, that was too easy!

I agree with your assessment of the problem.

In your experience do you think that a bad contact or cleaning something would solve the problem of the 3 & 7 buttons not working or is it pretty much cut & dry case of just replacing the membrane.
It's a pretty expensive part ($350.00 )

Thanks again.

Of course you can try to clean the ribbon (using an eraser), but the rate of success in my experience is less than 15%.

The part is very expensive but still much less than a new oven.

Just a follow up...

I followed Gene's disassembly instructions - which were simple - but stopped short of actually removing the control panel as I didn't have a replacement yet.
I put everything back together and all my buttons are now working!
I probably moved something but I didn't actually clean the ribbon contacts.

...Anyway it's working now so I'll keep all this information handy for when the control panel finally gives up for good...

Default removing control panel

First let me say thank you for reponding to my email!
I was able to remove the ribbon harness and all the plastic wire tabs.
However, the ribbon separated from the plastic tab, which I hope I'll be able to fix/reset once I replace the control panel. After reading the thread on this issue, I'm tempted to re-assemble everything, as the board looks clean to me--no apparent damage or broken filament fuse, etc. Perhaps the cut off/dead panel occured for some other reason? Someone suggested perhaps a fuse or cut off between the power source and conversion from the 220 to the 5 or whatever amp to the control board because of the heat/temp after the self clean process? Apparently there is a company that fixes/tests these boards, but I have to mail it to them for their assessment. Again, much appreciation for your reply.
