When we use the oven and set temp to any oven range the Broiler turns on. I think it is the control. The part number indicates that GE do not make it anymore.

I am not sure that you have a problem.

I went to the GE site and looked at the operators manual unfortunately it was pretty useless.

Most ovens use the broil element during preheat and may even switch back and forth between the bake and broil elements after preheat as this provides a more even heat in the oven.

I the unit gets to the set temperature and regulates the temperature and cooks/bakes OK then the unit is working correctly.

Note: Getting tech info on a GE is very difficult, they like to keep this info a secret.
