Gas oven thermostat problem
Model Number: Imperial Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I have an old gas single wall oven that says Imperial on the front but no model number plate, serial number plate just has a serial and shows it was made by the speedibaker div in Cleveland, Tennessee.
My problem is that the oven will come on and only heat to about 150 - 170 degrees and it holds there no matter what the thermostat is set to. I took the part number off of the side of the thermostat and called the appliancepartpros guy and he crossed that number to another and shipped it to me. The new thermostat does exactly the same as the old one.
To check if it is truly the thermostat that is causing the gas to cut off I pulled the new temperature sensor (came with the new thermostat) back out of the oven and held it out in the cool air and set the oven for 400 and it heated all the way up no problem. I let the oven cool down, put the sensor back in, turned it to 400 and it went to 150 and shut off.
I have looked all over the oven for a model number and cannot find anything other than the serial number plate. 094137K if it matters. This is an old oven that has a knob that controls the thermostat and a mechanical clock timer.
Anybody have any ideas? Could I have a new thermostat that is broken in exactly the same way as the old one? Any ideas on how to identify the model number? I have looked top to bottom including the back side, not underneath yet though.
Thanks for help in advance
