Model Number: KERC607HBT4 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
Hi,
I turned a stove-top control knob on, heard a loud 'pop', saw sparks shoot out from under the control panel. Note that the circuit breaker was NOT tripped. Now, there is no function and no display in the control panel. The stove-top elements still function fine and the red indicator lights still come on. I'm thinking it's the Microcomputer (or Control Electrical as called by some), AP3008749 made by WHIRLPOOL. However, my wife informs me that the service man said something about the problem being the 'Control Ribbon'. By-The-Way, are KitchenAid and Whirlpool the same thing now? I see parts by Whirlpool? Thanks for any help. ![]() |

The Microprocessor board shows NO signs of damage, which I think is odd considering that sparks were launched from under the front of the panel. Hmmm, still not positive that the board is the problem. Comments please.
