Question How do I lift the flat cooktop to replace the electric heating element?
Model Number: Maytag Gemini MER6770 AAB   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

I just ordered the replacement element for this locally, and was shocked to find that it was $85!!! Now I can't pay for the technician to come out to my house.

Does anyone know how to lift the flat cooktop so that I can get at the element on a Maytag Gemini model # MER6770 AAB?

I am in a bit of a hurry to get this done, and I really do appreciate the time and help anyone can give me on this!

Edited to add:

OK, I figured out how to lift the top (the two little screws underneath in front), but what a way different view under there than what I expected! I thought it would just look like the top of a regular electric stovetop. I saw the diagram of this stove on your site here (cool), but is there any sort of list or diagram of the process of removing the old element and replacing it with a new one? I'm guessing step one is to turn off the circuit breaker!
