Model Number: RBD305PDB12 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
There is a sound coming from my Whirlpool double oven (RBD305PDB12) whenever it is turned on, and for quite awhile after it is turned off. It sounds like high-pitched ticking, and if I had to guess, I would say it has something to do with the blower motor (like maybe some bearings are going bad or in need of lubrication).
I'm usually pretty handy with DIY projects and would like to give self-repair a shot. I have located the replacement blower assembly on this website (p/n: AP3079434). However, I hesitate to start tearing into it without a schematic and/or advice from someone that knows what they're doing. Does anyone know where I can find a guide to dis-assembling the oven enough to replace the blower? Or is hiring a real repair person the way to go? Any advice? Related Models |

Not sure if you ever resolved this, but, it is a rather simple repair. I had a similar problem with my oven however in my case the blower stopped altogether and whenever a "clean" was performed the high temperature safety "clix-on" would blow leaving the oven in a no heat situation. I had to replace the "clix-on" twice before I realized it was the fact that the blower motor wasn't running. I can assure you your problem is the blower as it stays on after turning off the oven to allow for "cool down".
To remove oven from the cabinet there are usually a couple of screws on either side of the oven door you have to remove. At this point the entire oven can be pulled out. I would suggest putting a box, table, or something of similar height in front to rest the oven on to avoid dangling by the power cord. You then need to remove some of the tin around the top and back of the oven to get to the blower assembly. Simply unplug motor, remove, replace and you should be good to go. ddunn81755 |

I have replaced the fan motor assembly quite a few times. It is no big deal, the oven has to be pulled out, the back comes off, and replace the whole assembly. Just one of those problems on that product. Tom
